The Biach Electric Stud Drive Tool (ESDT) is designed for the safe, fast, and efficient removal and re-installation of reactor pressure vessel (RPV) studs—completing each operation in just minutes.
Engineered for demanding nuclear environments, the ESDT delivers smooth and quiet performance even in high-noise conditions. It eliminates the need for workers to absorb breakaway torque during stud rotation, significantly improving safety and operator comfort.
The tool’s electronic control system ensures precise stud positioning during installation. This accuracy guarantees consistent stud projections around the vessel and prevents binding caused by over-threading or hitting the bottom of the stud hole.
For added versatility, stud weight compensation is achieved through a built-in air compressor or by connecting to the plant’s air supply, allowing for seamless integration into existing operations.
